She was your maybe-not-so-average teenager. A timid, shy and quiet girl of 16 years old. She studied at Whistlebury High as a transfer student. She was bright and smart, everything but brave, outspoken and pretty. However, despite all those flaws, everybody liked the little mouse.

Was, studied, liked… Tenses of the past. You ask yourself: “Why?”. Well, that’s because…

She’s no longer alive.

If she was, I don’t know, she’d be 30? 50? 80? Nobody knows, except maybe her old classmates, but I bet nobody would want to admit they’d known her, or what happened to her, for that matter.

Well, I do, and I’m about to tell you the story of a young girl who did nothing wrong, sinless, but received death all the same.

Sarah Williams was a transfer student from Australia who went to London to study. Other than one-syllable greetings, she spoke nothing. Out of the many friends she could’ve had, only one was her special one. Denise Carters, a transfer student like herself from Wales, was the closest to Sarah. They had become inseparable since the first day itself and though no one liked the sight of Sarah at first, they all had begun to like her very soon.

All but Dominique and her peers-Jacqueline and Gwendolyn. They hated her for her ugliness and timidity, calling her names like “Ugly Duckling” and “Timid-rella”. However, Sarah never cared. Although she wasn’t all that brave, she was brave enough to not bother about Dominique and her friends. Denise couldn’t stand it, though. She felt Dominique and her friends were jealous of Sarah because everybody liked her.

Dominique’s jealousy conquered her as she knew just insulting Sarah was not enough to make her cry. She started making plans with Jacqueline and Gwendolyn. Plans to scare Sarah out of her wits.
